MAKIINA is building the hardware and software stack for physical intelligence: modular, low-cost, scalable, and made in Finland.
From drone motors, actuators, power electronics, sensor units, perception stacks, to a breakthrough AI robotics foundation model, each piece is built like LEGO blocks so they fit together into different form factors of physical AI agents, affordably and at scale.
We are a Tampere (Finland) based startup, with a very healthy funding base. This role is full time on-site at our Tampere facilities.
Role Description
You will help keep our lab and production running. That means assembling robots and sub-assemblies, operating workshop equipment and machinery, keeping inventory and tooling in order, and broadly any other supporting tasks for MAKIINA’s R&D and production.
This is a hands-on role and a great entry point into robotics. You do not need years of experience, but you need to be practical, work great with your hands, and quick to learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly of robotic systems, actuators, and sub-assemblies.
- Operate and maintain workshop equipment such as 3D printers, and hand and power tools.
- Manage component inventory, tool storage, and workspace organization, including goods receiving and stock counts.
- Perform routine machine checks, basic calibrations, and first-line troubleshooting.
- Support testing and quality checks on finished assemblies.
- Work with the team to improve how we design and build things, and say something when a process is slower than it needs to be, or could be otherwise made better.
- Follow safety protocols and help keep the lab clean and organized.
Required Qualifications
- Basic understanding of mechanical assembly, machining, or fabrication.
- Good with your hands, precise, and attentive to detail.
- High agency & strong work ethic and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, follow instructions accurately, and take initiative to solve small problems on the spot.
- Communication and teamwork skills.
- Working proficiency in English.
- Vocational qualification, or currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Production Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience is equally welcome.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with workshop tools and equipment such as 3D printers, CNC machines, or milling machines.
- Experience in electronics assembly, soldering, or cable and harness work.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Experience with inventory or ERP systems.
- Open to possible shift work to keep our production running non-stop.
- Proficiency in Finnish is a plus.
